Code
Meaning
Severity
Common Symptom
CONTROL-DEAD
Touchpad or control panel unresponsive
High
When certain buttons on the Kenmore Elite control panel activate functions while others are dead to any input, the touchpad membrane itself has failed at those button positions — the main control board is typically still functional.

FAN-NOISE
Blower runs loud or vibrates
Medium
A metallic grinding or high-pitched squeal that intensifies at higher fan speeds indicates worn motor shaft bearings — the rotating shaft is contacting the bearing race as lubrication has been lost.
View
FILTER-LED
Filter indicator light will not reset
Low
The LED or indicator light that signals filter service continues to flash after the grease filter has been removed, cleaned, and reinstalled — indicating the reset procedure has not been completed or the control board is not registering the reset.
View
GREASE-LEAK
Grease dripping from hood body
Medium
Liquid grease accumulates inside the hood cavity faster than the saturated filter can capture it, eventually reaching a tipping point where it drips out of the hood body during high-heat frying or sautéing sessions.
View
LIGHT-OUT
Hood light fails to illuminate
Low
Pressing the light control produces no illumination and no flicker, suggesting the circuit from the switch to the bulb socket is broken at one of several possible points.
View
NO-FAN
Fan motor will not run
Medium
Pressing the Low, Medium, or High button — or rotating the mechanical speed switch — produces no airflow and no motor sound, indicating the motor is not receiving power or has seized.
